Ahhhhhh, Home!

What is it about 'coming home'??? I enjoyed the last week in the mountains of north Georgia very much, the weather was good for the most part (although a bit chilly), and we did a whole lot of nothing most of the time, but I'm so glad to be home!

I mean, here I am, sitting in my cozy bed, in my favorite lightweight flannel jammies for the first time of the season, with my laptop in my lap, watching TV and I'm just so glad to be back home in my own bed. {sigh}

Okay, enough of that! Let me tell you about our last day in the mountains! First up, Mama and my hubby decided to go down to the fishing dock and fish for a while. They were gone for a good while, and I was just about to leave to walk to them (they took the car) when my cell phone rang and it was my hubby saying Mama caught another fish - this one bigger than the first. So I grabbed my camera and headed down to where they were - about 1/3 to 1/2 mile away.

Along the way I took a picture of this dogwood tree full of pretty red leaves >>>

And I watched this pretty bluebird taking a sand bath in a sandy spot. When it saw me coming, it flew up on this limb and just sat until I walked past, then resumed it's bath!

When I got 'down the road' I found the fishermen, hard at . . . . play.

Here's Mama's second fish - another bass, and this one weighed closer to two pounds. It sure was pretty!

Mama was really excited - she'd rather fish than eat, so I'm glad she had this opportunity.

Look at the fish while it was in the water . . . isn't it amazing how clear that water is??? So pretty! And the fish was soon released to join it's family and friends in the deeper parts of the lake. I sure hope it learned it's lesson! :o)

While they were fishing, I found a bench in the sun, and sat down for a little R&R. I looked up in the tree above the bench, and this is what I saw >>>

Persimmons! Lots and lots of persimmons! That tree was just full of pretty golden - orange colored ripe persimmons. Hubby ate a couple of bites of one and said it was good. I kind of licked one and it was really sweet - kind of a peachy-plum flavor. The ones on the ground were too ripe to keep, and I wasn't going to climb that tree to collect persimmons, so we left them there for someone else to pick. Here are a few of the ones I picked up off the ground. Aren't they pretty?

The fishermen finally got hungry, so we went back up to the camper and had lunch. After lunch hubby decided he wanted to play his own, made-up version of frisbee golf. There is another place we camp that has a frisbee golf course, but not in Hiawassee. Anyway, he made up his own course and his own rules and got out and played for a while. Here's my little boy, out playing on his own >>>

So, this morning we packed up and came home. I took Mama home in my car, and hubby brought the girls and the camper home. We had a great time, but now it's back to the real world. For hubby, it's back to work tomorrow. For me - there's tons and tons of laundry!
Have a great week everyone, Becky

Really pretty scenery Becky and I notice how private the area is. That's a great pic of your Mom and her fish. I don't know that I've ever tasted a persimmon (my brother once lived on Lake Hartwell and we saw trees loaded there too!) Don't work too hard on that laundry - it will wait. Enjoy the next few days; it's supposed to be rainy and cool.

I have not tasted a persimmon since Daddy died and the farm was cleared somewhat. The pictures brought back a lot of memories from me walkint with the two slop buckets down to the pig pen by the tobacco barn and smashing persimmons, to picking them for Mother to make something for Daddy with them.
I am so thankful you all enjoyed family time and relaxing. God answered prayers.

It is cool here and rainy today. I have on socks and a sweater.
