Vacation Potpourri!

Hello from lovely, historic and happening Chattanooga, Tennessee!

Well, actually we are in Georgia, barely inside the state line, just south of Chattanooga! The campground where we are staying has a Chattanooga address, but it's just inside Georgia.

We arrived here on Saturday morning, a day late, and we're so glad we made the decision to wait out the storms! Friday night was pretty rough at our home, with hail, multiple storms passing, and tornadoes touching down in nearby areas. Thankfully we had no damage.

When we drove up to the campground, there were a couple of trees down and their main sign was down as well. That really made us thankful we'd stayed at home an extra day!

Saturday we stayed close, getting everything set up and cozy, then treating ourselves to dinner at the Cracker Barrel about a mile from here.

Sunday we headed out fairly early and headed west, then north. We traveled north to McMinnville, TN, east to Spencer, TN, south to Fall Creek Falls State Park where we explored a bit, walked the girls, and had our picnic lunch.

Bailey in background and Bessie in foreground wanting out when we stopped for me to get something to drink out of the back of the car. I gave them water, too!

A shrub nursery just south of McMinnville, TN. The pink trees you see out there are redbud trees! Apparently McMinnville is a large growing area for trees and shrubs.
Apparently this little ladybug thought the lilacs on our tablecloth were real - it didn't want to fly away, so I had to help it along!
A beautiful section at Fall Creek Falls State Park called 'Georges Hole'. The water is actually more green than blue, but I'm not so good with my new camera yet!
On the way back we stopped at a WalMart to get ice and a few things for an easy dinner, and this lovely moth was relaxing on the wall just outside the main doors! I had to run and get the camera and get a picture. When I have a chance, I'll see if I can find out online what kind of moth it is.
The campground isn't our favorite, but then it's very, ummmm, commercial. We like state parks and Corp of Engineer parks, etc. where it's quiet and a lot of nature. There are trees here, but you also get the sounds of traffic on I-75 all night, and all weekend the sounds of the drag strip about 1/2 mile or less from here were very loud! I do like having wifi and cable tv, but I think I like a more natural area best!
We had high winds this morning very early, and rain all night. Tonight they are forecasting thunderstorms, but tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday should be lovely, so we'll be able to get out and do more those days.
We went out shopping for tonight's dinner a while ago, and bought a new domino set - double 15's!!! We played 2 hands and hubby beat me 885 to 690 - in just two hands! This is going to take some getting used to, but we'll enjoy it.
Well, guess I'd better get dinner started - we bought fried chicken from the deli, frozen corn on the cob, and a box of scallopped potatoes I can make in the oven. Oh! and a frozen apple pie for dessert.
I'll check back in soon and let you know how we are doing. Take care! Becky

I love the picture of Bailey and Bessie - how sweet! We had hail and heavy rain on Friday also. Thankfully no damage. Early this a.m., we had strong wind and have a ton of limbs, pinecones etc. to pick up in the driveway. Hopefully, you will have nicer weather and enjoy your time. Your dinner tonight sounds good, especially the pie! Have fun and stay safe Becky.
